Volume 2: Pattern Matching Using VFind™ and the CVDL Language(includes CVDL Quick Reference Chart) The first part of this manual offers an introduction to pattern matching. After giving an easy to understand description of what pattern matching is, the manual goes on to describe how to use VFind™ and the basics of how to use the CVDL language. Later chapters of this manual cover the VFind™ Scan Engines, the CBayes Scan Engine, the uses of high-level CVDL, different types of CVDL Expressions, and Macros and Meta Operators. Volume 3: Lexical Analysis Using VFind And the CVDL LanguageA “vdl” (short for “CVDL”, or CyberSoft Virus Definition Language) is a signature taken from the body of the spam email that is used by VFind to detect any spam email containing the enclosed string of data. This document is written by CyberSoft’s Senior Data/Virus Analyst, Barbara Lynn Higgins, describing how she was able to use VFind’s CVDL to detect SPAM. It is very interesting to read and also gives you a greater idea of some of the other lexical problems that can be solved with VFind. |
